  • Plans: Pocahontas!

For some time now I have been making plans to purchase a Pocahontas doll.  While I’m not awfully big on collecting the Disney Princess dolls, I do adore seeing them.  Lately, and probably because I’ve been feeling a need to strengthen my ties to my heritage, I’ve been increasingly drawn to Pocahontas.  Sure, it’s mostly because she’s like, the only First Nation/Native American strongly and solidly represented in pop-culture, i.e. cartoons and toy merchandising… but she does cut a lovely figure.  And I still love the Disney movie even with its flaws…

I don’t particularly have a favorite Disney movie or princess.  I love them all far too much!  But there is only a select few I could ever imagine myself bringing about into doll form for the ever increasing collection around here.  This is, for all intents and purposes, a reaaaaallllly good thing!  To date, I’d only want a Pocahontas, Mulan, and/or Belle.  I mean, that’s culling them pretty harsh, so I’m trying notto want a Moana, or Elsa, or Aurora…. =sighs=

So, I’ve been searching around at the Disney Store releases of Pocahontas and trying to decide via internet pictures if the differences in the faces are just makeup or face molds themselves.  And if it’s face molds, then trying to decide and pinpoint the one in the masses that I want to use for my re-paint Pocahontas doll.  Doesn’t help that I missed the release of the 17″ Pocahontas collectors doll that made me nearly faint to look at!  I’ll have to pay double or more than double now if I really want her/can’t live without her…

Which really only made me want to make my Pocahontas doll even more!  So, I went looking again at releases but can’t really narrow one down.  Today, I was browsing some re-paint vids on Youtube.  One in particular had a lovely Pocahontas doll with a made to move body!

The color match was absolutely, hands down, perfect!  So, what would any I-have-needs-to-have-custom-Pocahontas-doll-girl do?  Go look for the body to purchase!

And that’s when I saw that this particular Made-to-Move Barbie goes for waaaaay higher than the store price was!  I nearly fainted!  Cheapest I saw was Amazon for around $40~  I knew I had bought one, so was thinking how lucky I was, but felt sad I only had one… until I checked my storage box and realized I hadbought two!  Go figure~

Until I can nail down which Disney Store mold I want permanently, I have plans to purchase this Pocahontas from Walmart and re-body her on the MTM body!  Even practice how I want her re-painted until I get the one I want.

And on a side note… I ran across the Feathers in the Wind Pocahontas from the 90s… and fell in love!

I remember seeing this doll when I was a kid!  She’s just as beautiful as I remember…  Which, of course, means one more addition to my little family~

Now, to remember to purchase that Pocahontas doll beforeI leave work!

    Jerushe is Here!

Yep yep, trying to get back into the proper updating mode, and writing to say that Jerushe is finally home!!! =cheers= Such a moment of happiness!  I’ve waited for years for this.  Heck, I’ve waited years just to see a Soom Dia/Sard in person!  The wait did not let me down.  I took box opening pictures and wanted to try him on some bodies, but only ended up switching Briean’s vamp head from the 68cm Mirodoll body and putting Tyr’h on it instead!  Ended up being more effort than I was feeling today to switch the CP Neck connector from the body out for an S-hook… but I will later!  Then, wanted to try him on the 66cm Mirodoll body but… couldn’t bring mysel take Kor off of it!

….I might have a problem, hahaha!  I definitely need more bodies on hand, but that will take a little more time yet.  IRL tough situations have arisen so some dolly purchasing is again on a stand-still.  Though, if a Lishe head shows up I doubt I will be able to stop myself.  I contacted one person selling one… no reply.  I contacted a second… they had already sold it and not taken the thread down.  =sighs=  Sis comes home from overseas in September, so I really… REALLY wanna find this head for her before she gets home.

On a non-dolly related note, I realized at some point I never uploaded my edited version of the website’s layout… =flails=  Gotta figure out where I stashed my copy, do some checking to make sure I didn’t leave something unfinished, and then get it up for everyone.  I’m also working on trying to revamp the gallery to make it easier to upload photos.  One issue I’m having is that the individual gallery threads in the backend keep re-routing to a non-existing page when I open them.  It’s a NextGen Gallery glitch that I need to dig into to debug after first trying to re-install it. All in good time!

    And a new year~

I am months behind in updates, even more behind in photo uploads, but getting there! Lots of things going on IRL and a lot of hobbying being out on the back burner for a little bit, but not altogether.

December saw my Youpladolls Ziya come in! Unfortunately, she came in in the wrong color! Youpla was amazing. She replaced her and even let me keep the faceup the doll already had. The faceup is lovely in person and is a nice bonus as when she came in I was so incredibly busy that faceups weren’t on the table. Still aren’t, lol! But she is here now and soooo much more gorgeous in person. I can’t express how much I love her! And she still doesn’t have a name yet, oh no~

December is also when I received my beautiful, stunning, goooorgeous Deesse head from Sickstress! She gave her an incredible faceup that we both worked on ideas for until she was pretty much, almost literally birthed. Character ideas and designs emerged as we worked on her. She will have an Ancient Egyptian influenced element to her when all is said and done. I already have some black Lincolnshire fibers in for her wig! Just needs hobbying timez ~ Also need an amazing name for her.

End of December, Migidoll had a clearance sale on all their heads. Afterwards, some would never be available. Mu was never a crazy popular head, but she’s my Eylyn! And after putting her on the wait list so many times in favor of others, I knew the time had come to nab her… and now! Today I actually got the email her head has been shipped (along with a pair of men’s hands I got). She’s actually on her way after all these years!! So excited!

That’s the bulk of the main arrival events. Last thing to mention is that a coworker had a display cabinet in one of her outbuildings. She offered it to me for free and I couldn’t resist! So now I have this stunning glass and wood display cabinet for the bebehs. I had to repaper the wood shelves and plan on replacing them later after our move (a move is in the works!!!!) And the last couple of days I have been working on benches to go in the cabinet for the dolls to sit on. Ran out of cardboard, but have the shells for two for the large sized bjd and a box set aside for a 1/4 size. One of the two larger ones has cardboard filler in it now and is drying before I cover it. All in all, it’s almost done!

And that’s pretty much it for now on this end!
